Philippines - Flood Relief Efforts

M"I needed to make a decision: keep holding on to my two kids or let go of one so I can rescue my third child."

Through the creation of the Philippine Flood Relief Project, SIM Philippines is one of God's channels to help bring hope to the flood victims.  We are involved in giving relief in the form of food, kitchen utensils, medicines and school supplies. We are helping approximately 700 students most of whom are from the ethnic group we are trying to reach here in the Philippines.

"The work is huge.  Many people need help.  In the coming months we'll assist through medical missions, providing school  supplies and with housing projects for the homeless. Some of us were trained in disaster counseling to effectively listen and sympathize with the grieving victims. May those in need see Christ in us."

Kenya Emergency Relief

More than 10 million people are facing starvation in the East African nations of Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti and Ethiopia. Drought is the primary cause. SIM Kenya's emergency relief project will help direct funds to those with greatest needs during this crisis. Funds will be channelled to local church and ministry partners of SIM Kenya and will strategically assist with food, water and medicine. 

Financial donations will help SIM to be the hands of Christ during this time of tragedy. Cheques can be made to SIM East Asia Ltd. Include 'Project No 92601' on the back.You may also call us for information about online transfers. 

Please pray for: 

-children too weak to run and play 
-local churches stepping into the crisis with courage and sacrifice
-for governments to fulfil their responsibilities towards their    citizens

Last December, SIM Singapore helped prepare and mobilise three short term PACE (Prayer and Cultural experience) trips - two to countries within Asia and one to a North African country.

Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA) 

EHA runs 20 hospitals and 30 community health and development projects in various parts of (mostly) North India.

There are a range of opportunities for serving with them, both Long Term and Short Term,. Volunteers placed with them can help make a difference in very needy and under-reached mission contexts.

The hospital is looking for the following personnel :

- Doctors
- Medical Elective placements
- Nurse Trainers and senior nurses
- Allied Health specialists (physio's, occupational therapists, biomedical         engineers)
- Pubilc Health and community development placements (including                   agriculturalists)
- Support Roles in IT & computer systems, hospital & building design &           maintenance

Sahel Academy is a Christian school located in Niamey, Niger Republic (West Africa). Sahel currently has 157 students who come from all over the world. Sahel's staff represent 5 different nations. 
They need 19 new teachers by Aug 2012, a youth pastor and some admin assistants.
