SIM International Leadership & Services has a ministry opportunity available for an Internal Auditor.  This position is a half-time position which could be paired with another SIM ministry.  This person can be located in an SIM location with good Internet connection and access to International airport.  Details are below.

Internal Auditor, SIM International

Key Responsibilities

1.0 Internal Auditor
  • Prepare audit working papers
  • Make travel arrangements for internal audits
  • Review previous audit working papers and reports
  • Follow-up on recommendations made during the previous audit visit
  • Follow the steps in the internal audit program set by the Internal Audit Manager
  • Interview the Director and Treasurer of the country being audited
  • Review internal control systems for any internal control weaknesses
  • Write draft internal audit recommendation letters at the end of each audit
  • Conduct exit-meetings with Treasurer and Director where the audit recommendations are presented verbally
  • Inform Internal Audit Manager of any major concerns encountered during the audit
  • Ensure that the Auditee responds in writing to the Audit recommendations
  • Provide financial training and advice wherever possible during and after audit visits
  • Make suggestions to improve internal audit procedures.
  • Any other duties, as specified or requested by the Internal Audit Manager
  • Education:  A four year degree or equivalent in work experience.  Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field preferred. 
  • Experience: Training in accounting and/or auditing desired. SIM experience helpful.  Cross cultural experience desired. 
  • Skills:    A strong commitment to the international character of SIM and the ability to relate and communicate well in a context of multiple cultures and languages.  Good communication and relational skills including both spoken and written word; Fluent English speaker; proficiency in another world language helpful (Preferably Spanish, French, or Mandarin); excellent administrative and computer skills including MS Office programs and the ability to use them as effective communication tools. Knowledge or aptitude in the understanding of SIM finances. Ability to filter information, prioritize, work to deadlines and manage own time effectively and efficiently. Ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters. Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships at all levels, particularly showing respect and sensitivity towards the cultural makeup of the mission. Ability to work under pressure with a professional manner and also to be flexible as part of a team. Understanding and agreement of the SIM Statement of Faith and Core Values.  The ability to work graciously and loyally on a multicultural team; ability to handle confidential information reliably and tactfully; enthusiasm for the job; spiritual maturity;  willingness to learn new skills, and a servant attitude. Possess a confident demeanor, but be able to listen well and empathize with auditees. Ability to travel.

  • Supervision: Internal Audit Manager
  • Location and Hours: Half time position that could be combined with other responsibilities within SIM, International travel required
